Our direct fiber connection with AboveNet is now live. This was originally planned for 1st of December but due to a delay in cable provisioning it was up around 8pm Friday.

AboveNet is a Global Tier 1 high performance provider with over 16,000 lit miles of optical IP connectivity around the world. Tier 1 providers are the closet thing to what could be deemed an internet backbone offering reach ability to any other IP network in world, either via their own network, or via free settlements with other tier1 providers.

How does this benefit Apex Hosting?

We’ve chosen AboveNet based on their high performing low latency network to improve our overall connectivity. European ISP’s and beyond should see improved stability, latency and fewer hops to the Apex Hosting Network.

In case anyone is wondering, AboveNet is an additional global peer to our network already consisting of Telewest (global), ENTA (partial peering), Goscomb (partial peering) and NTL (pvt peer).
